【作家紹介】
京都に生まれる。洋画家で兄の芝田耕の影響で絵を描き始める。
独立美術京都研究所で須田国太郎に師事、独立展で活躍。
独立賞、第七回安井賞、日本芸術院賞受賞。またブラジルとの美術交流にも寄与、リオディジャネイロ名誉市民となる。芸術院・独立美術協会会員。平成18年79歳にて逝去。
