【IMPORTANT】 EU Ends the 150 EUR Customs Duty Exemption & Japan Post’s Shipping Restrictions
2026.07.03
Hey DEJAPAN Fans,
As of July 1, 2026, the European Union has officially ended its customs duty exemption for low-value parcels (150 EUR or less).
Instead, a flat-rate charge of 3 EUR will be charged for each product category (organized by HS code).
For example:
・3 figures + 2 books + 5 acrylic stands = 9 EUR (3 different HS codes)
・25 CDs = 3 EUR (1 HS code)
・2 acrylic stands + 3 acrylic keychains = 3 EUR (1 HS code)
This flat-rate charge will remain in place until July 1, 2028. After that, standard tariff rates will apply to all parcels, regardless of value.
**Please note that we are unable to accept HS code requests.

What does this mean for your DEJAPAN orders?
DEJAPAN does not utilize DDP to collect customs duties before shipping, so your shopping experience with us will not change. However, all parcels valued at 150 EUR or less will now be charged customs duties by the shipping courier prior to delivery (according to the 3 EUR per category rule).
**Parcels valued over 150 euros will continue to be charged according to the same customs rates as before.
**Import VAT will still apply to all items regardless of their value.

What about Japan Post’s recent shipping restrictions?
Due to the end of the 150 EUR de minimis exemption, Japan Post has tentatively restricted mail to the following countries: ・Austria, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Belgium, Portugal, and Luxembourg
Parcels destined for the aforementioned countries may be returned-to-sender if they meet the following conditions:
Use the IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) system
Total value of contents is less than 150 EUR
Transaction type is B2C (business-to-consumer)
However, we are happy to report that DEJAPAN does not use the IOSS system when shipping parcels to the European Union. As such, shipping via Japan Post (EMS, Air, and Surface) is still available with us.
**If, by chance, conditions change and we are no longer able to ship via Japan Post, UPS and DHL are available for shipping to the affected countries.
